>Sherbert was a 70s Aussie rock band most notably featuring Daryl Braithwaite up front and Garth Porter on keyboards. They had a string of hits in Australia through the 70s but failed to make it on the international stage, though their biggest hit “Howzat” made the top 5 in the UK, which is no mean feat. The band broke up in 1979 after having briefly changed their name to Highway but reformed in 1980 with exactly the same line up as The Sherbs. Success eluded them and they went their separate ways. Following the group’s break-up, lead singer Daryl Braithwaite went on to a successful solo career in Australia, and Garth Porter and Clive Shakespeare became successful record producers.
